1280 AD - At the height of the Crusades, the atheist son of a poor fisherman (Francis) cannot forgive the church for having his brother wrongfully executed. Resentful for years and with nothing left to lose, the son finally tries to kill the man responsible (Godric) when the entire continent is beset by the rise of the Devil Incarnate.
